Donald Trump: Hillary Clinton Is “Playing the Woman’s Card”

Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump accused Hillary Clinton of “playing the woman’s card” in her campaign. “She’s playing that woman’s card left and right, and women are more upset about it than anybody else, including most men,” Trump said on Fox News. The war of words between Clinton and Trump suggests the real estate mogul is trying to turn the focus to the Democratic frontrunner as he continues to hold a wide lead above the other Republican contenders.

The back-and-forth between began last week, when the Republican candidate said the former Secretary of State had been “schlonged” in the 2008 Democratic primary. Clinton talked with the Des Moines Register a few days later and said she wouldn’t respond directly to the comments. “I don’t respond to him personally, because he thrives on that kind of exchange,” she said. “I think he has to answer for what he says, and I assume that others will make the larger point about his language. It’s not the first time he’s demonstrated a penchant for sexism.”

On Saturday, Trump took to Twitter to criticize how Bill Clinton is campaigning for his wife. Trump wrote: “Clinton has announced that she is letting her husband out to campaign but he’s demonstrated a penchant for sexism, so inappropriate!” Talking to Fox News, Trump sounded a bit proud of his tweet: “I turned her exact words against her.”

Trump said on Sunday that criticizing Bill Clinton is “fair game because his presidency was really considered to be very troubled because of all the things that she’s talking to me about.”
